Hippos know best.
One of Ry’s favorite books is called The Belly Button Book, about a bunch of hippos and their belly b’s. It is also one of my favorites, if only for this lovely passage:
We don’t do much throughout the day.
That’s how we like it best.
We nibble grapes.
We watch the waves.
We take a little rest.
Those hippos. My kind of people.
- I don’t have that kind of time, people.
- A future for futurama?
Man, I wish I could have that kind of life. I always look at the dogs and get so jealous, just sleep, eat, take walks, what a life!
One of Emerson’s favorite books (by the same author) is But Not the Hippopotamus. Although, being seven months old, her “favorite” book largely amounts to how fun it is to chew.
Aidan’s fave is “If you give a pig a pancake.” Or maybe it’s my favorite. It is hard to tell at this point.
Have you found that a lot of the kids books just have way too many words for 2 year olds and under? Most of Aidan’s books just don’t keep his attention.
Jonathan, Em is just the cutest thing. You can ship her my way. Tucson is not that far.
Thanks Steph! Despite her hispanic heritage (via the missus) she’s really not made for the Arizona sun. I worry that her primary genetic legacy from her father (her lilly-white alabaster complexion) would disappear in about 3 seconds outdoors in Tuscon, to be replaced with a deep brown tan, and likewise her love of formula would be replaced by incessant demands for Horchata.
Boy Jonathan. You sperm did some good with that baby. Emerson is tragically cute. I would so let Ryland date her.
Ryland and Emerson. I can see the wedding already.
At last! We were worried she would never settle down & find a husband. As for her adorableness, I’m convinced it’s pretty much all Robin. I’ve known my sperm for a few decades now, and while the reviews from the ladies have all contained positive attributes (“full bodied, with an unassuming bouquet”, “stronger than krazy glue” “better than Atkins!”), “adorable” was never among the descriptors.
