I’m Keen on Venice.

Sandals are practically the only shoe I ever wear, all year long, even in winter. I don’t care if it looks stupid to wear socks with sandals, I do it anyway. Yes, in winter, I’m a sock & sandal wearing dork.

My last pair was a superstar of the sandal world. They weren’t birkenstocks, surprisingly (I’m not allowed to buy birks anymore, because apparently they make me look too lesbian). They were Merrell, red ones, and I loved them so much. I still love them. After three years, I continue to wear them, constantly. But three years is a long time for a pair of shoes, especially as much as I’ve worn them, and they are getting kinda ratty.

Time for a new pair! Woo! I love getting new sandals. I was going to get another pair of Merrells, same style that I have now, but then I spotted these at REI and I had to have them. The website for Keen is top-notch annoying, but I don’t plan on wearing the site, so it’s okay I guess.

I got them earlier this week. Last night we noticed that the right shoe and the left shoe, while both green, were totally different shades. All week long I was wearing two different colored shoes, and hadn’t even realized it. Now I look at them and I think “how did I miss that?” it’s so obvious. I called the store and they told me to bring them in and we’ll get it straightened out.

It’s strange, they only have one shade of green in that style, so I don’t know why one is more minty and the other more olive, but it looks stupid. I hope they don’t say it’s just the way the shoe is made and tell me to live with it.

I don’t know why I think anyone is interested in my new sandals, I’m just bored at work. Oh!! The best thing about these shoes? No, the two best things about these shoes? a) they are totally waterproof–not only can I get them wet, I can actually throw them in the washing machine to get clean. And b) the strap is this sort of bungee cord deal and it’s fricking awesome.

Also, I’ve been having a good time lately with puns and play on words, be patient as I work through it.

It seems like since you’ve started your other blog somewhere out there that you’ve felt more free to post stuff here… perhaps on less personal from-the-gutt topics, but maybe by having separate creative outlets for the different Layers-O’-Christa ™, it’s allowing you express yourself more freely.

Or maybe I’m full of it. But my RSS reader has been receiving more Loafe-love recently.

so i must say, i don’t like them as much as your old ones. these are much more teva looking. but are they really comfortable? I need a new pair like that. Ones that I can wear in water. I used to wear my teva’s all the time, but then they started giving me blisters on the back of my ankle, where the strap hits.

But, i do need to get a new pair of birks. this girl that i work with is in Geremany right now, so i told her if she finds a pair for under 50 to pick them up for me. Otherwise, I will have to bit the bullet and pay 70., which is still a good deal.

Yes, I am the birk wearer and wear them all year long with socks. Got to love the hippys. And Christa, I don’t think you look like a lesbian with them. I miss you, come back to Tucson!

I remember noticing your sandals the first day I met you. You had just started at engage. In fact, wasn’t morgan wearing matching sandals??? huh. i can’t remember. anyway, based on your sandals, i made a note to self that i should be politically correct around you. hahahah. Gosh, i was kind of a jerk.

Morgan never wore sandals ever, at least not until he hooked up with the Tiffany. Maybe just before, but back at engage, there were no sandals getting near that boy’s feet.

see Gina! don’t judge a girl on her shoes! look how cool I turned out to be!

    hahaha. that’s so funny though.

we had good times. good times.

I miss you too Steph. you really don’t like those sandals? they are unbelievably comfortable. they don’t have typical straps, instead they have that cord running through it and you just pull up on the cord to tighten them. they are awesome.

Morgan never wore sandals till he met me?!?!?! That’s probably a good thing, right? I mean the boy does have Fred Flinstone toes. Not pretty ones like ours, huh, Christa?

Come to Tucson and get a pedicure with me! We could go back to that Melody girl! That was the best damned pedicure I’ve ever had!
