[rolls eyes]

Maybe I’m too cynical or maybe I’m just a plain old regular bitch, but when I read something on the internet and the author uses brackets and verbs to describe her physical actions/reactions, I want to jam a knife in her throat. You know what I mean. Not just emoticons (although I share a great contempt for those as well) but like when someone says “[laughs] oh I agree Sam!” or “[moans] mmm, yes baby, right there”. They may not necessarily use brackets, but you get the idea.

Why, why do you have to do that?

And why does it have to bug me so much? I want to let it go, but the asshole part of me says NEVER GIVE IN.

I only want to love, and you people just give me more and more reason to hate.

Worse yet, the farkism (not sure if you ever read Fark.com, but EVERYONE there does this) of typing a backslash at the end of their comments with another quick note.

    \something like this

And it’s always a horrendously lame joke. There’s nothing more annoying than lame jokes, I’d be less bothered to read genuine hate-filled negativity than good spirited but unfunny humor. Worse yet, when I see the farkisms spreading to my beloved metafilter.com, last bastion of semi-intelligent thought, clever jokes & cool links on the internet.

the \ thing dates back to IRC

    ifor example if you typed:
    \me is picking her nose

in the channel it would type:
    Michelle is picking her nose.

it was always \me though for expressions.

I read fark, but I don’t know why they do the slashie thing so much.

I know Christa will hate me more than ever for saying this but:
When Christa was in school Loafe was like a beautiful new clipper ship, its masts filled with sail and wind, the sky a brilliant blue the yellow sun blazing, the ships crew filled with song and
    silliness.
These days its more like an old tug. Its timbers set with rot, its mast broken its crew sick with scurvy. It bounces around the edges of a septic field with its loose anchor dragging up muck.
But silly me will keep reading…..I hope you feel better about life
    Christa…

I personally don’t want to read anything filled with song and silliness. Keep up the good work!
