You don’t get what you don’t ask for
But also, you don’t get what you do ask for.
I wrote an email yesterday asking for a higher salary with my new promotion. I threw up four hundred times and then I hit send.
The good news is they responded quickly. The bad news is that I am not getting more money. They didn’t say no, exactly, but the SVP had a meeting with me and explained her situation. She agreed with me that my salary does indeed need to be higher and she’d do what she can to get me there. asked me to wait for 6-7 weeks, when she needs to do a reforecast for the board, and she will have more leverage. I agreed, as she seemed honest and transparent.
So I guess it’s okay. I didn’t get what I wanted at least I spoke up. I think she respects that. And at least now I am on her radar as someone who knows her value and will ask for it but also can be flexible and patient.
we’ll see where we end up. I’ll start working on my own reforecast and get my shit ready if I need to walk.
I’ll be in San Juan Capistrano next week to meet members of my new team and I’m kind of excited. I haven’t been to California in so long and I’ll be near the ocean and it’ll be warmer than here and no kids and no dogs and no dinners for me to make.
Maybe I’ll meet my new celebrity crush! It’s the guy from this recent ATT commercial. don’t ask me why. The heart wants what it wants:
