For better or worse
On Thursday, I was promoted to design director. I’ll be responsible for multiple brands now, managing a team of 5. It sounds good right? Except for at the same time, they let go of a bunch of people, including my direct report, who I loved. And the bump in salary isn’t nearly what it should be.
And I don’t have much choice. If I didn’t accept the promotion? My boss said “well I don’t really know what they’d do with you.” So probably also be laid off, or be shifted to a new brand and answer to someone else. No thank you.
So I am of course going to accept it, but I’m also going to ask for a higher salary because it’s kinda bullshit what they want to give me. And my corporate owners are really bad at giving raises so whatever I get now is gonna be my salary for the next two years probably.
I guess I’m excited for this opportunity. To do something a little different. But I won’t be doing much actual designing. It will be a bunch of meetings every day, doling out tasks to other people, making sure everyone is doing their work. So great. I get to be a mom at work now, too.
Also how the hell is American Dad still on TV .
