The rumors are true.

Due to familial and personal obligations, and after much discussion, we’re packing up and heading back east. Monday I shall give my notice at work. Tuesday I shall give notice to my family. Wednesday I shall give notice to my mailman. Thursday, I shall give notice to the sanitation workers who take care of my recycling and trash. Friday I shall give notice to my doctor.

I am a bit sad to leave, because my friends here are a worthy bunch, I like my job, I like my apartment, a few other things. But mostly, it’s the best thing for me and it gives Ryland a chance to get closer to the other side of the family, before it’s too late. Plus, I miss Boston. And personally, I get along so much better with my family when I’m in Boston and they are in Tucson, it’s just the way it works. Lots of good reasons to stay, more good reasons to leave.

We don’t have an official date of departure, as we’re driving back, but I hope to leave on or around August 25th.

So east coasters beware, cause here we come!

No August Fools. Morgan’s just effing crazy.

It would be better to wait until after september 18th!! I wish wish wish I could. Unfortunately, there are forces at work outside of my control. DAMN IT.

I really need to start my own country, so all the forces are within my control. my own world. my own universe. I really need this.

What the hell is so special about September 18th? I suppose that’s just a special secret between you and TONYA…… well SCREW YOU SISTER!

i love you. please don’t go.

I can’t believe you are driving across the country with a one-year-old child. HA! Good luck with that. We’ll probably hear from you when you just decide to settle in Wyoming rather than face the horror of one more hour in the car with Rye. But I’m not bitter. Really.

Christa, are you sure this is the right move? I’ve seen photos (well, A photo) of that reprobate you let up in your privates, and to be honest, I wouldn’t allow the family that produced him anywhere near my precious little one. And she doesn’t even exist yet. (december 10th is emerson’s arrival date, btw).

    REPROBATE:
[n] a person without moral scruples
[adj] marked by immorality; deviating from what is considered right or proper or good; “depraved criminals”; “a perverted sense of loyalty”; “the reprobate conduct of a gambling aristocrat”
[v] reject as invalid, as of documents
[v] express strong disapproval of; “We condemn the racism in South Africa”; “These ideas were reprobated”
[v] Theology: abandon to eternal damnation; “God reprobated the unrepenting sinner”

While most people would agree with your statements, Jonathan, I think it’s hurtful to say them in a format where everyone can “have a crack at it”. And just because that “reprobate” has made poor decisions in his past, he is not his mistakes. Would you want people to judge you by the hurtful manner in which you speak? I should hope not, because if that were the case, I would think you were a self righteous jerk. But, I’ve been assured that you aren’t, so I can only go by what I read and what I’ve been told.

    Just my two cents.

Hmm. It appears that once again, my late night blog commenting etiquette has drawn the ire of a gaggle of strangers… or at the very least, one stranger. If it helps clear my good name, Tiffany, chalk my comments up to horrendous jealousy on my part – you see, I only wish that I was the reprobate who Christa let up in her privates… sigh. And now those delightful privates are moving back to Boston along with the rest of her (I assume, unless they withered off under the Tuscon sun like a dry desert cactusbloom). I’m just not sure how I’ll make it.

  11. Jonathan

    a) Tucson, not Tuscon. Dumbass.

    and

    b) I can’t actually chalk the earlier ‘reprobate’ comment up to “late night blog commenting”, as it is timestamped as 6:01 PM. However, in my defense, I’m 83 years old, so 6:01 IS kinda late for me. Gotta go, time to wring out the Depends.

  12. Michelle

You once laughed at us east coasters for getting suck weather. Now you will face the wrath of a horrible winter. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA. :) Welcome back to the east coast.

  13. Marianne

Tiffany, I feel certain that if Christa herself felt that the nature of Jonathan’s comments was as hurtful as you say she would have deleted the comment from her blog. Also, I think your comment “While most people would agree with your statements” reveals volumes more than Jonathan’s and is likely just as hurtful to those involved.

  14. christa Post author

you know, it would just be my luck for boston to get the worst winter in the history of the world this year. that would so be just my luck.

if this happens I hold michelle personally responsible (east coast michelle, not tucson michelle).

also, I LOVE ALL MY FRIENDS, the ones I’m leaving and the ones I’m coming back to and the ones who will finally make it to tucson after I’ve already left and the ones who love my privates and the ones who love me, despite all my awful awful habits and annoyances.

  15. Tiffany

    Marianne,

Actually, I’ve seen some pretty hurtful things said in the comments section and they’ve YET to be deleted so I’m not sure I agree with you on that. The difference between the volumes and Jonathan’s comments is that he actually verbalized it. It seems most people stick with the “if you can’t say anything nice…” theory. I personally, don’t feel that way about this person so the volume doesn’t speak for me. Actually, it’s funny, there were only a few people I was silently referring to. Family, some friends, etc. And, my statement doesn’t reveal anything, it was simply my two cents. And I’ve used both my pennies up, so that’s it from me.

  16. Jonathan

Tiff, when you reference “hurtful things said in the comments section”, what specifically are you referring to? I’ve been reading loafe for a few years, I’ve never seen anything mean spirited in the comments section, except of course for the stuff I write. Although, I’d definitely agree with Marianne, your “most people would agree with your statements” line was a shockingly hurtful thing to say about Christa’s baby daddy, given that I’m only joking about the reprobate (obviously, since I’ve never met him, and have no way to judge his character) whereas you’re acquainted with the lad and basically affirm my joke, and simultaneously claim that most people would share the same opinion. I bet that little monkey would be totally upset if he could read.

  17. Tiffany

    Jonathan,

While I’d love to supply examples, I’m choosing to end this line of comments, for myself anyway. I mispoke when I said “most” I should have said “some”.

  18. brasten

I have nothing particularly inspiring to add, but it looks as if everyone who’s anyone who’s ever commented on loafe has commented here, and I didn’t want to be left out. :)
