We’re back.
Ry and I are back in Tucson now. It’s starting to get hot already. ugh. Thank the world for air conditioning.
Last year at this time I was getting ready to go to Coachella. I am sad not to be going this year, but I have neither the money, the time nor the chance, what with the baby and all.
Speaking of baby, this kid of mine is a hell monster. He’s quite the crawler now and he’s added to his repertoire climbing and pulling himself up to standing positions. Everything is a potential tool for him. He wants to stand against anything he can find: me, the couch, chairs, boxes, his car seat, his crib, the wall, doors, the TV stand, his toys, whatever. It’s very cute and it makes me very proud, BUT it makes me crazy too. He’s always slipping or falling or pulling stuff down. So far the damage has been minimal. I suppose it’s the natural order of things: he needs to explore and learn and toughen up and I need to accept his increasing independence and the accompanying bumps, bruises and scratches.
It’s a lot of fun though. This age is so great (he’s 8 months on the 19th). He’s extra cute, he’s interactive, he’s silly, he laughs all the time, he babbles and talks. He absolutely LOVES little kids. He is definitely a bit of a mama’s boy (but really, aren’t they all?) He eats baby food regularly and he’s learning to drink from his own sippy cup. He doesn’t need me to be holding him constantly or playing with him all the time, because he’s able to entertain himself and find new things to play with and figure out. Much of the time he doesn’t want anything to do with me, I hinder his exploration or something. But I have to make sure I always have eyes on the back of my head, because he can get himself into trouble faster than I can blink.
His nickname is “Little Shit” right now. I call him that in both English and German (the only german I know roughly translates into little shit-head). I mean it in the most affectionate way possible.
I saw Gina in DC. It was awesome. Gina is awesome. Her baby is awesome. Her DJ boyfriend is awesome. Her ass is awesome.
My newest addiction: orange cream slushes from Sonic. I could lose myself forever in its orangey creamy slushy goodness.
Welcome back!
Is Ryland sleeping any better at all now that he is mini action man?
Just a little more at least?
My little guy Cooper is 1 in a few weeks and he gets into so much trouble getting around.
I had a habit of not closing the dishwasher door properly till he started trying to use the handle as leverage and came down with a crash with the dishwasher door in hot pursuit.
If your place isn’t baby proof they are certain to let you know what needs fixing.
:-)
Its all fun and games and craziness in the land of mini-me’s.
