It’s too late to turn back now…
Just letting everyone know, waiting for me on my TiVo tonight is the 1985 Anthony Edwards classic Gotcha. That’s right. It’s Friday night and Christa is going to party.
After Ry is fed, bathed and put to bed, I’m gonna grab a nice cold Killians, open a delicious bag of pirate’s booty, and revel in some sweet ’80s era glory.
Please, hold your jealousy. You can join me in spirit.
- my brilliant lies
- bend over.
I’d never heard of pirate’s booty. Sounds good, I might pick some up tonight. The company that makes it is being sued for making some lady fat. Google it. Have fun!
hope you have a nice night, christa! i wanted to tell you that ben now has another boy in his class named ryland. i, honestly, had never heard that name before and now i have two in my life! i guess it’s like any new word….once you hear it, you start hearing it all day.

Speaking from personal experience, that was certainly true of the phrases “sexual harassment” and “pants are not optional at work”, two idoms that I was completely unfamiliar with until it seemed like every female co-worker was suddenly parrotting them back at me one day. Maybe it’s a chick phrase or something?
Oh, by the way, Christa, the building they used for exteriors of Anthony Edward’s apartment complex from that movie is like a mile from my house. On an unrelated note, the building they used for exteriors of Kevin Spacey’s house in American Beauty is around the corner from me, like 200 yards away. Ah, Los Angeles.
Mmmmm, Kevin Spacey.
I heard his used for a girl a few days ago. I don’t remember where. I just thought that the name is SOOOOO good that it’s cute for either sex. I haven’t heard of anyone hollering to their kid “Galileo” though.
I must admit I always thought Ryland was an original and solid name for any boy….and eventually a man.
