22,506 effing spams
I use the akismet plugin for wordpress to catch spam. I installed it about…six months ago, is my best guess, although I think it was less time than that.
That’s a lot of freaking comment spam. Those people must loooooooove my site. At least I’m popular somewhere, even if it’s with robot/automated comment spam thingies.

I hate comment spam. It is such a pain to have to clean up.
ah, but that is why the akismet plugin is such a glorious thing. instead of having to go and find the nasty little buggers myself and get rid of them, akismet does all the work. I have to do is click a button and it deletes them all, bye bye spam. And it learns as it goes. I rarely have to deal with a spam comment directly.
I’m sure that a few legit comments have found their way to the trash heap, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take. The few must suffer for the greater good, right?
be careful with that Limewire – you’ll get viruses on your Mac.
Holy crap – I’ve had Akismet installed since day one (16 months ago or so), and I’m only at 10,975 blocked comments. Spam must seek you out at a disproportionately high rate. Somewhere in a public spam restroom, your URL is scrawled on the wall in rough handwriting… “For a good time selling Viagra, go to http://www.loafe.com“
Spam comments suck. Trying to redesign one’s website is also a painful process.
