so I’m working on making this movable type to wordpress conversion and it’s mostly going okay, but I have a few issues. The problem is that I really don’t know what I’m doing and I mostly just muddle my way through, fooling around with things until I get it the way I want, or as close to the way I want as I can manage.
For instance, I really like this design you see right now, with the overlapping boxes (I didn’t design this some other guy did, I just modified it to my own style), but it was designed for an older version of wordpress. I finally got it to look right with this new “theme” idea, but the archive pages aren’t taking on the design and I don’t know why and I don’t know how to fix it. I could try and read through the support pages, but I won’t. feel free to offer suggestions if you want.
note: I was pretty clever when I converted my movable type posts, so that any entries by user loafe came from MT and any entries by christa are wordpress.
I like that wordpress uses true quotes and true apostrophes. I don’t even have to type in the special code for them. It’s automatic.
I’ll admit that I’m not good at economics. I don’t know enough and I don’t understand a lot. And I’m definitely fumbling around in the dark when it comes to social security and s.s. reform. Based on what I do know though, and it pains me to say this, I think that I’m in agreement here with the Repubs & Bush. Private accounts may be the way to go. Something has to be done, because what we have going on right now is a disaster. what’s that saying, something about robbing someone to pay someone else? oh yeah robbing peter to pay paul.
one more thing political and then I’m done—I’m sick of the democrats. they’re a bunch of ninnies and sissies scared of their own shadows. at least republicans aren’t afraid of being republican. democrat has become a dirty word and the democrats themselves are as much to blame for this as anyone else. the minute you start apologizing for who you are, you’ve shown your weakness and the world can walk all over you.
