election day

it has me all wound up.

I am such a nerd that I cried this morning after I voted. But I can’t help it. I love voting and it makes me supremely happy and proud.

Ryland came with me, I showed him all the lines I was voting for and told him this was a very big deal and we’re going to have a new president soon, and it would be Obama. And he said to me, “Barack Obama?” He knew Barack Obama’s name! That’s my boy.

Last night I thought that the Onion should have done a fake news story titled “A Confused John McCain concedes the election…” and then the rest of the article should be about how John McCain accidentally gave his concession speech the night before the actual election. I am not very funny, but I bet those Onion writers could have come up with some good lines.

Aidan has ZERO political awareness. Unless he’s been reading internet news stories behind my back, he has no clue.

Maybe we should have a teaching moment tonight. I will tell him that a muslim, born in Kenya is going to be president of the United States and explain that the end of the world is near.

I bet based on names alone, he would vote for Barack – it’s much more fun to say.
